ARTIVISM831 Recap

Updated: Sep 10, 2019

"Game changing", "breath taking" and "impeccably designed" are a few phrases used to describe the highly ambitious exhibition and event spearheaded by Artist, Javon Conaway and the team that makes up the brand, ARTBYJCON. Conaway took Harlem's prestigious Gallery Eight, located at 2609 Frederick Douglass blvd and transformed it beyond a typical art exhibiting space, giving it an entire store front. This highlighted the extension of the brand beyond fine art, sharing focus on apparel and retail. ARTIVISM831 displayed over 16 new works of art by Javon Conaway, a pop-up shop (powered by Mondo Mannequins New York), the ARTBYJCON apparel and other retail items vibrantly painting the brand's image as a lifestyle concept. The content within the works of art focused on the bridging of "Art and Activism," a slogan regularly used by Conaway to describe the intent and idea behind ARTBYJCON.

Elevating the experience of ARTIVISM831, the event saw additional partners spread out within the space including, Lambda Vodka, Kansas Clean Distilled Whiskey, Essentia Water, Harmless Harvest and PROOF Coffee Roasters.

Another level of sophistication was the integration of violinist - Edward W Hardy. Hardy graced the event with two musical sets in between the bass heavy beats curated by Brooklyn based DJ and producer - Shxlton.

ARTIVISM831 was another successful endeavor lead by Conaway and is another pavement in the ground for additional ambitious works curated by ARTBYJCON.
